To enjoy a classic Florida beach stroll, check out the Marco Island Beach Trail, which takes you along the coast from Tigertail Beach down to South Beach. Enjoy the coastal breeze and ocean views, spot beach-nesting birds, collect shells, and enjoy hanging one upon the famous shell tree that’s along the path. Tigertail Beach parking is $8.00, and you can be on your way within minutes as it’s a short 3 miles from our doorways.
If you take a short ride inland (about an hour north of us) you’ll find CREW. Offering a variety of trails, CREW is a non-profit established in 1989 to ensure the proper handling of the 60k acres of Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed. It includes the Corkscrew Marsh, Bird Rookery Swamp, Flint Pen Strand, Camp Keais Strand, and National Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.
All of the trails CREW operates and manages are open to the public from one hour before sunrise until one hour after sunset and are free to enjoy (although they happily accept donations). These trails showcase the marvels of nature. Both hiking and biking are allowed, and hunting is permitted during the season on some trails.
There’s the CREW Bird Rookery Swamp Trail, CREW Marsh Trails, CREW Cypress Dome Trails, and CREW Flint Pen Strand Trails ready to welcome the public. Each showcases its own unique and amazing natural wonders, so be sure to check out what each trail offers and plan your escape into the wondrous outdoors.
