Exploring the Beauty of Marco Island
Hello, All! Can you believe it’s the end of April and Memorial Day is a mere month away? Most consider Memorial Day the beginning of Summer just as Labor Day marks the end, so let’s look at ‘Things to Do’ when you’re escaping the mainland with us during the days in between.
Marco Island is teeming with natural beauty, one end to the other, and there’s a variety of ways to explore it, along with places that offer the best of Marco’s natural wonders.
Keewaydin Island sits about 15 miles north of us, a pristine 8 mile long barrier island that is part of the Rookery Bay Preserve. Only accessible by boat, once you arrive you’ll be surrounded by mostly undeveloped beach and mangroves, habitats to protected species including birds and loggerhead turtles. Find more information here.
Tigertail Beach is a short 3 miles southwest of us and is a top location to take in the natural elements of our island. A white sand beach lagoon, this is home to a variety of birds, giving it rank as one of the best birding sites in Southwest Florida by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. Offering a full array of amenities and services, Tigertail Beach is fully ADA compliant and family friendly. A couple miles further south sits South Beach Marco Island, noted for being a great shelling beach, it offers a family-friendly experience.
Looking for some cool inspiration (and a/c), find a world of local artistry at the Marco Island Center for the Arts, a short 10 minute ride south of us. Open daily 9am-4pm, with fresh exhibits and so much more! While you’re in that area, check out the Otter Mound Preserve, a small, shady, flourishing park full of information about the habitat, archeology, and history of the area.
However you like to spend quality time with the family, there’s a plethora of activities and ways to do so, and we’re delighted to help. When planning your next getaway to Marco Island’s #BestKeptSecret, ask the reservation specialist any questions you may have and be sure to visit our ‘Marco Island’ tab for more on boating, watersports, biking, hiking, dining and shopping.
