Day Trippin’

January 2020 Blog 2

A new year, a new decade and time for a new spin on things to enjoy when visiting with us at the Boat House Marco!  With our riverside dockage, pool and bbq grills - our guests can enjoy memorable, quiet moments from our property.  However, there’s so many moments to share with friends and family, places to explore, just a drive away.

With lower humidity, beautifully clear skies and an average daytime high of 79 *C, the months of February until May (the dry season) are the best months to participate in the great outdoors.

Explore the Everglades!

The experienced outdoors person can independently set out and take in the expansive, raw beauty of the Everglades, enjoy camping, and watercrafting along the way. To get the most from a family excursion, or outing with a friend, we suggest leaving the heavy organization and planning to the experts and enjoy an adventurous tour led by an experienced navigator.

Cap’t Ron’s Awesome Everglades Adventures Offers the perfect place to start planning an adventure of memories.  Your group will experience the Everglades on a trip uniquely designed to meet your adventure quotient.  For the thrillist, try a three hour waverunner tour. Embarking daily just 5.5 miles from the Boat House Marco, these guided tours take you through the exquisite maize of mangrove forests where tropical wildlife such as White Ibis, Osprey, Alligators and Florida Panthers can be spotted.  For those who prefer to take things at a slower pace, there’s a variety of Pontoon Tours to entice and entertain your group, including shelling excursions and sunset tours.

March makes the best bird watching moments in Southwest Florida, as migratory patterns send flocks of neotropical species flying over Naples and Collier County.  Some of the best viewing can be found a one hour drive from the Boat House Marco at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.

A trip to the sanctuary is a journey into the soul of the Everglades ecosystem.  A stroll down the famed 2.5 mile boardwalk takes you through pine flatwoods, wet prairie, circumferencing a marsh, and into the largest old growth bald cypress forest in North America.  Home to the largest nesting colony of Federally Endangered Wood Storks in the nation, the forest is also habitat for numerous other Federal and State listed species, including: the Florida Panther, American Alligator, Gopher Tortoise, Florida Sandhill Crane, Limpkin, Roseate Spoonbill, Snowy Egret, Tricolored Heron, White Ibis, Big Cypress Fox Squirrel and the Florida Black Bear. Several rare plants are also found here, including the elusive  Ghost Orchid.

Day trips around Marco Island make remarkable memories, and we are ready to offer guidance from the friendly front desk at the Boat House Marco!  Come see us soon!
